The website for your non-profit is your online image.  So as tempting as it is to have it run by teenage volunteers, or building it yourself, think again.

Many web-design firms will build your website for non-profits at a discount rate, or for free, for their portfolio. Be prepared however, to pay hosting and domain fees. You can off-set these costs in many ways, including having Google Adsense advertising on your site.

I’ve worked with several non-profits who forgot that their website was a valuable marketing tool, and left it fall out of date. Remember that your donors are using the internet, looking for information and resources. If you can appeal to them, and get them to click on you, you can capture their check as well as their click.
